Jim Deal is a professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at North Dakota State University. He teaches undergraduate courses in personal and family finance and lifespan development as well as graduate courses in family financial planning, quantitative methodology, and family science theories. His previous research focused on family process and personality development in children and adolescents. His current research focuses on identifying processes in emerging adulthood, particularly in the areas of religion and the transition to college for low income and first-generation students.
